Bruce Mukwanja

Picture
_ Bruce is one of the highest acheivers in Pathfinder's class 8. His favorite subject in school is mathematics and he strives to become a pilot when he gets older so that he can assist his parents with the money he earns. He also dreams of traveling and would like to visit London as he thinks it would be interesting to the the city where so many commodities in Kenya come from. In addition to performing well in school (he scored a 400 on the most recent comprehensive exams), Bruce excels in sports and particularly enjoys soccer and swimming. His favorite soccer team is Manchester United. Bruce's favorite meal is chapati and greens. Bruce lives with his parents and his two brothers and two sisters. Neither of his parents have full-time jobs but both work as migrant farmers when they can earning about $1 each a day. This income is only available during harvest season, however, and throughout the rest of the year, they have no income, so there is often a shortage of food at home. If Bruce gets a sponsor for high school, he promises to work hard so that he will acheive his goals in high school and will be able to support his parents afterwards. If he doesn't get a sponsor, he will not likely be able to attend school and will instead have to try to find work straight out of primary school. He wishes to attend Lenana Boys High School.
