Joshua Machinga, Founder & In-Country DirectorJoshua is an experienced community mobilizer who spent over thirty years working on education management, conservation and food, finance, social justice, and human rights within his local communities and abroad.
Joshua has always been keen on promoting creative thinking among the local youths. After graduating Manor House Agricultural College in 1991, he joined the World Bank/ODA as the Community Liaison Coordinator. He later left the World Bank and founded Common Ground for Africa to fulfill his hope to alleviate poverty in Africa, starting from his own community. His passion to help the poor has enabled him to traverse the world and meet with global leaders, such as Nelson Mandela and Kenneth Kaunda, to bring change to the world. |
Alice Feng, U.S. DirectorAlice grew up in Shanghai, China and currently is a student based in Princeton, New Jersey. With great passion in Global Health, Sustainability, and Development Economics, she arrived in Kiminini in the summer of 2019. During the visit, she fell in love with the community and saw great potential in empowering the locals. At CGA, she focuses on organizing grassroots volunteer effort, developing local initiatives, and providing technical support. Apart from her work at CGA, she works on Global Health Advocacy as a RESULTS fellow and leads various projects on empowering Community Health Workers in Kenya, Malawi, and the U.S..
