Faith Nyakina

Picture
_ Faith is a top performer at Pathfinder Primary scoring in the top 10% of her grade 8 class. Her favorite subject is mathematics and she scored a near perfect 96% on the maths portion of the most recent comprehensive exam. Faith hopes to become a doctor because there is a lack of doctors within Kenya and she wishes to assist with the shortage. Outside of school, Faith enjoys playing handball, singing and reading storybooks. Her favorite food is chips and roasted chicken, and if she should travel anywhere in the world it would be to England because she wants to attend Oxford University. She looks up to Ben Carson because he achieved many things due to the hard work he invested in order to achieve them. Faith lives with her mother and father, her two brothers and her sister when she's not boarding at Pathfinder. Her father doesn't have a job but tries to find temporary work when he can. This is difficult and he only earns $1 a day even when he can find work. Her mother works as a housewife but earns less than $1 a day doing so. Faith's and her siblings' school fees amount to approximately five times their annual income so it is therefore impossible for her parents to pay them in full. Church members help pay when they can, but it is often difficult for them too and Faith's fees often go unpaid. High School will be even more difficult as the tuition fees are significantly higher than in primary school. She says that she would like a high school sponsor so that she can have a chance to continue her schooling and so that she can concentrate well on her studies. She will be glad and will continue working hard so that she can achieve her goals and dreams. She will continue trying to find a sponsor if she cannot find one right away but will probably have to begin working as a housewife or farmer. She would like to attend Lenana Girls High School.     Sponsor Faith
