SHOP Jewelry
All of the jewelry in our shop is both designed and made by women in Kipsongo Slum and the surrounding area. All items are handmade to order so customers have a wide variety of style and color options to choose from. We are continuing to work with the designers to create pieces that appeal to the modern, western market, but that also retain traditional Kenyan materials and styles. Below is a small selection of what the women have created so far.

Cube or Circle Turkana Clay Necklace
Clay bead necklaces are a specialty of the Turkana women in Kipsongo. All beads are handmade from locally sourced clay and are finished with a clear lacquer so as to bring out the natural colors of the clay. Choose from square cubic beads or round ones.

Long Bukusu Style Necklace
All of the beads on these labor-intensive necklaces are hand-rolled by Kipsongo artists. The beads are made from recycled magazines and paper. All are made to order and one-of-a-kind, so choose from a selection of color bases and the women will get to work on your choice.
